Waco City Council prioritizes Waco' water future, approves two water-related resolutions (kwbu.org) — Waco residents should know the City Council just approved two major water measures: joining the new Central Texas Water Alliance and acquiring all Brazos River Authority storage rights in Lake Waco. Together, these moves significantly expand local water storage and position Waco to better handle long-term growth and demand.
   

2. Central Texas behavioral health facility increases security after break-in (kwtx.com) — A Waco-based behavioral health facility is tightening security after a November break-in at its Jefferson site, where old paper records with client names and Social Security numbers were disturbed. Officials say there’s no evidence any information was stolen or misused, but they’ve added fencing, boosted patrols, and moved the affected records off-site. Concerned clients can contact the network’s client rights officer.
   

3. Court rejects ex-Baylor University football player's latest appeal of 2015 sexual assault conviction (kwtx.com) — A Waco-based appeals court has upheld the denial of former Baylor football player Sam Ukwuachu’s latest bid to overturn his 2015 sexual assault conviction, keeping his felony probation in place through 2032. The ruling, issued by the 10th Court of Appeals in Waco, rejects multiple claims of prosecutorial misconduct and ineffective counsel, though he can still seek review from Texas’ highest criminal court.
   

4. Longtime Waco Farmer's Market vendor, the ‘Pupusa Lady', steps back from market after stroke (kwtx.com) — A beloved Waco Downtown Farmer’s Market fixture, pupusa maker Alba Moreno, is stepping away from her booth after suffering a recent stroke. The longtime vendor, known for bringing Salvadoran flavors to Waco for 13 years, says she’s focused on recovery and hopes to return to serving her loyal market family soon.
