Beloved Ice Cream Chain Testing New Menu Item That Has Fans Excited: Reports

BLOOMINGTON, MN — Dairy Queen, the popular ice cream and fast food chain known for its "blizzard" and other frozen treats, appears to be testing a new item at some select locations that are sure to make cereal fans say "yabba dabba do," according to social media users.

Instagram food blogger "snackolater" took to social media this week to share an image of a new Fruity Pebbles shake at DQ.

The new shake is made with the beloved Flintstones-approved fruit cereal and also features a special cereal milk base mixed in, according to the image.

"Yabba dabba get in my belly now! Dairy Queen is testing a new Fruity Pebbles shake and this looks incredible," the Instagram post reads. "The shake not only has Fruity Pebbles cereal mixed in, but has a scoop of a cereal milk base to really taste like a bowl of Pebbles!"

The food blogger also noted the new shake appears to only be available at a few locations in Ohio at the moment, however that did not stop fans from commenting on the post to express their excitement about it.

Always Innovating

While DQ did not directly confirm the shake's existence, the company said in a statement sent to Patch it loved to see fans share their excitement for DQ treats.

"We are always innovating our menu to bring new and delicious products and flavors across our treat and food offerings," a DQ spokesperson said in a statement, "and as part of that, we sometimes test flavors in select store locations. Fans can keep an eye on our social channels for the latest news on DQ flavor and product offerings."

The spokesperson also noted availability of products may vary by location due to the fact that DQ restaurants are independently owned and operated.

"We encourage fans to check with their local DQ restaurant to see what is offered," the spokesperson said.

More Reasons To Be Excited At DQ This Summer

According to the company's website, DQ currently offers a wide variety of shake flavors on its menu, including classics like vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, as well as more unique offerings like peanut butter, caramel, hot fudge and orange cream.

DQ also serves up sundaes and ice cream cones, as well as its famous blizzard frozen treats, which come in a variety of fun flavors such as s'mores, cotton candy and dipped strawberry cheesecake.

Aside from ice cream, DQ also serves up burgers, fries, chicken baskets and other fast food items.

This summer, DQ is also offering a brand new blizzard flavor to celebrate the release of the new "Superman" movie this July.

According to Parade, the Superman cake batter cookie dough blizzard combines sugar cookie dough, cake batter flavor and sprinkles blended with the chain's soft serve ice cream.

The new Superman blizzard can already be found on DQ's menu, where it is "guaranteed to save the summer," according to the company's website.

Based on the iconic DC Comics superhero and directed by James Gunn, famous for helming Marvel's popular "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy, "Superman" stars David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan and is scheduled to be released July 11 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
