Good morning! It’s Monday, Aug. 23 and here are a few things to know as another late summer work week begins: Tropical Storm Henri was downgraded from a hurricane before it made landfall in Rhode Island Sunday, but a good chunk of New England and the New York-New Jersey area is still expecting some serious rainfall and power outages as the storm moves east. Also, we have an update on the mysterious bird disease that has been found in Pennsylvania and other Eastern states.

Wedding Washed Away

Aug. 22 was set to be a magical date for Kim Braha and John Burke. It was the Long Island, New York, couple’s long-panned wedding date, and a date the two hoped to celebrate for years to come.

Instead, it will be the anniversary of the day their wedding — set for Giorgio’s Baiting Hollow on Long Island’s East End — got washed away due to Tropical Storm Henri.

The couple had to postpone their wedding as Henri was a hurricane and expected to hit the area as a Category 1.

Braha was left “devastated,” she told Patch.

"At least we can laugh between the tears, right?" she asked.

The couple’s big day may have been pushed back due to mother nature, but there was some silver lining when the couple called to reschedule.

Henri Hits East Coast

Tropical Storm Henri has dumped rain, and caused power outages, from New Jersey to New England since before making landfall in Rhode Island on Sunday, with more rain expected to come until at least Tuesday.

In New York City, that meant a record rainfall. From 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, more rain fell in Central Park than any other hour since records began.

Meanwhile, on Long Island, Barney the Bull remained on the loose during the storm.
