DIY Glow-in-the-Dark Nightlight

Upcycle a plastic container and let kiddos decorate it with glow-in-the-dark paint to ease nighttime fears.

Know a little crafter who doesn't like the dark? Make bedtime a little easier with this glow-in-the-dark jar that can serve as a nightlight to comfort kids.

The glow-in-the-dark paint requires bright light to activate it, so the nightlight will glow just long enough for kids to fall asleep.

Glow in the Dark Acrylic Paint

2. Using the paintbrush, apply glow-in-the-dark acrylic paint to the inside of the jar.

Kids can use small brush strokes to create tiny dots of color that look like stars, or they can paint the entire container surface. The more paint, the brighter the jar will glow. Allow the first coat to dry.

3. Apply a second coat of paint. Allow the second coat to dry. Your nightlight is finished!

4. Before using the nightlight, expose the jar to a bright light to activate the glow-in-the-dark paint. Any time the nightlight doesn't seem to be glowing as brightly, expose it to the sun or to a bright light to reactivate the paint.
