DIY Mother's Day Gift: Felt Brooch For Mom
Help kids attach pretty trimmings to create a unique DIY felt brooch made just for Mom.
Mom will be proud to wear this pretty brooch to Mother's Day brunch and other special occasions. You can add any kind of trim you'd like, whether it's ribbon, rhinestones, sequins, or buttons. Just be sure to use some of Mom's favorite colors!
What you'll need:
- Round object to use as a template
- Pen
- Assorted felt colors
- Scissors
- Low-temperature glue gun
- Beads
- Buttons
- Ribbon
- Other trimmings Mom would love (optional)
- Bar pin

Instructions:
1. Choose a felt color for the base of the brooch. Heat up the glue gun.
2. Grab a round object like a jar or aluminum can and place it on top of the felt. Using a pen, trace around the round object to create a circle template on your felt.
3. Using scissors, cut out the circle of felt.

4. Plan the brooch design by placing objects like beads, buttons, ribbon, and anything else your kid would like to use on the felt. (This step is optional; if kids want to play the design by ear, go for it!)
5. Add a small dab of hot glue gun to the felt, then gently press the trimming into the glue to secure. Add one trimming at a time. Kids may need some help with this step, as the glue gun might be hot.

6. Once kids are happy with their design, flip the felt over to the back side. Place a thin line of glue across the center back, then gently press the bar pin into the glue.
