DIY Mother's Day Gift: Sweet Hand Print Bowl
Help kids craft a clay bowl using their hand print as the template — no special tools required!
Even the tiniest hands work well for this precious bowl. Mom can use the bowl to hold anything from rings to keys and other tiny objects.
What you'll need:
- Air-dry clay
- Paring knife or other small kitchen knife
- Tennis ball or other small round object
- Ultra-fine point Sharpies

Instructions:
1. Roll out the clay so that it's about 1/4" thick. Roll out as much as you need to so that your child's hand fits on the surface of the clay with fingers spread out.
2. Gently press your child's hand into the clay, creating a faint outline of the hand. Remove your child's hand.

3. (This step is for adults.) Using a paring knife or other small kitchen knife, cut around the outline of the hand. Set the extra clay aside to use for another project.
4. Use your fingers to gently smooth any uneven or messy edges.
5. Pick up the clay hand and gently place it on the tennis ball or other round object, wrapping it around to create a bowl shape. Try not to stretch the clay hand as you complete this step.
6. Allow the clay hand to dry on the ball overnight. Remove the hand from the ball and allow it to dry for several more hours. Drying time varies depending on the brand of clay you use, so check the manufacturer's instructions for exact drying time.

7. Using the ultra-fine point Sharpies, help kids decorate the bowl. They can doodle, draw pictures, or write "Mom" on the bowl. Be sure to add the date on the bottom of the bowl, too!
