Help kids contribute to spring gardening with these adorable, handy plant markers.

When gardening season rolls around, kids usually want to be helpful. This year, they can make plant markers that will stick around just as long as the tomatoes and the greens!

1. Together with your little crafter, make a list of all the plants you plan to plant in the garden.
2. If you didn't purchase them, forage the yard for smooth, flat rocks. You'll want rocks with plenty of room to write and draw on the surface. You'll also want to make sure the rocks will lie flat on the ground.

3. Using the Sharpie markers, write the name of the plant on the rock. (Younger children may need help with this, while older children can just use the list for guidance.) Kids can even draw the plant on the rock, or draw some other fun spring design.
4. Allow the rocks to dry completely. Place rocks in the garden to mark each plant. Kids will love seeing how helpful (and pretty!) their markers made the garden.
