Earth Day Craft: Veggie Stamp Wall Art

Recycle vegetables cores like romaine lettuce into a stamp that creates a fun swirly design on any paper surface.

Kids just might eat their vegetables if you entice them with this fun craft! Set aside cores from leafy vegetables after dinner, then break out the ink to watch kids stamp all over their own personal canvas.

Veggies will all create a different design, so experiment with lots of different varieties, if you'd like.

This project also works well with paint, so if you'd like you can swap the ink pad for acrylic paint. Kids can brush paint onto the leafy core using a paintbrush, then stamp it onto paper.

1. Before kids get involved in the project, use a sharp kitchen knife to cut the core from a leafy vegetable.

2. Place the vegetable core-side-down onto a paper towel or kitchen towel. Allow the core to dry. If there is still excess moisture when you pick up the core, pat the edges again with the towel.

3. Now it's time for kids to join the fun. Grab the core and tap it gently onto an ink pad, core side up. Depending on the size of the ink pad, you may need to rotate the veggie to ensure all the edges have been inked.

4. Stamp the core onto a canvas or any other paper surface. Kids can create anything from wall art to stationery using this stamping technique, so encourage them to have fun with it!
