Holiday Gift Wrapping Hacks: Make A Gift Bag From Wrapping Paper

Upgrade your usual gift bag by making a custom-sized gift bag out of your favorite wrapping paper.

This how-to requires no extra supplies other than your basic wrapping materials. Plus, you can apply it to gifts that are any shape, whether they're packaged or not. This method works well for gifts that are a little bulky, since you can create a bag that's custom fit to the size of the gift.

1. Measure a piece of wrapping paper that's long and wide enough to cover your entire gift. Cut out the wrapping paper.

2. Overlap the wrapping paper ends, forming a tube. Tape the ends to secure, taping all the way down. (Remember that this will be a bag when you finish, so taping down the entire edge ensures there are no open gaps for sneaky gift recipients to see their gift!)

3. Grab one open end of the tube, then fold it over onto the wrapping paper. The length of paper you fold over should be slightly larger than the width of your gift. Crease the fold with your fingers.

4. Unfold the end temporarily, then fold each corner into the center of the soon-to-be gift bag to form triangles. (This is similar to tucking in corners on a rectangular-shaped present.)

5. Tape the triangles to secure them.

6. Insert the gift into the gift bag.

7. Fold the top edge over twice, then tape it to secure it.
