Kentucky Derby 2023: Meet Horses In The 149th Run For The Roses

Thoroughbreds Forte and Tapit Trice are highly favored to win the 149th race of the Kentucky Derby. Check out the horses ahead of the race.

LOUISVILLE, KY — The fastest horses in the racing world will compete in the first race in the Triple Crown series Saturday at Churchill Downs racetrack in Louisville for the 149th Kentucky Derby. The field in the Run for the Roses will be packed with 20 thoroughbreds.

The race takes less than two minutes for the horses to lap around the mile and quarter track. Horses Forte and Tapit Trice have the best odds and are favored to win the derby's $3 million purse. Could one of them be a future Triple Crown winner?

The race, which will be broadcast live on NBC, kicks off at 6:57 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
