Lewiston Shooter Found Dead, Suspected To Have Shot Himself: Police
The discovery ended a 2-day manhunt for Robert Card, who is suspected of killing 18 people in a shooting rampage.

LEWISTON, ME — Law enforcement twice cleared a recycling center where the body of the man suspected of killing 18 people in Lewiston was found dead, authorities said Saturday.
Police found Robert Card's body Friday night, ending a two-day manhunt that left Maine on edge following the mass shootings at a bowling alley and restaurant that also injured 13 people. Card — a firearms instructor and former military member — fatally shot himself, officials said.
Card's body was discovered in a trailer parked at a recycling facility in nearby Lisbon, according to Michael Sauschuck, commissioner of Maine's Department of Public Safety. The suspected shooter worked for the facility — the Maine Recycling Corporation — "at some point," Sauschuck said.

"I don't know if he was currently employed or not," Sauschuck said Saturday at a news conference. "And I don't think I'm in a position to answer that."
A note found in Card's home wasn't explicitly a suicide note but had the "tone and tenor" that he "was not going to be around," Sauschuck said. The note was addressed to a loved one and had the passcode to his phone and bank account numbers. Officials are working to the into the phone.

Authorities don't know when Card died. His pending autopsy will provide greater clarity, Sauschuck said.
Soon after authorities released surveillance images of Carr, his family called investigators to provide his name to law enforcement.
"This family has been incredibly cooperative with us," Sauschuck said.
Wednesday night's killings marked the deadliest mass shooting in Maine history and one of the deadliest ever in the United States. Seven victims were killed at Just-In-Time Recreation, eight were killed at Schemengees Bar & Grille Restaurant and three died at the hospital, officials said.
Four people in the deaf community were killed at the restaurant, where a cornhole tournament was taking place.
