Spring Craft: Coffee Filter Butterflies
Kids can show off their watercolor creativity with this easy, colorful craft that celebrates the return of our favorite spring insect.

One sure sign of spring is the return of colorful butterflies fluttering around the yard. Celebrate that return with this simple craft!
These butterflies can be used as a decoration, whether they're hanging on the wall or attached to the fridge.
What you'll need:

Instructions:
1. Flatten the coffee filter to smooth out the wrinkles.

2. Using the water colors and paintbrush, add some color to the coffee filter. (This will be the butterfly wings so the more color, the better!) Allow the water colors to dry.
3. Fold the coffee filter into an accordion, just like you would a paper fan.

4. Fold a black pipe cleaner in half. While pinching the center of the wings to hold the accordion fold in place, twist the pipe cleaner around the wings.
5. Pull gently on the wings to show off the pretty water colors.
6. Make the antennae by bending the pipe cleaner ends at 90-degree angles.
Repeat these steps to make as many butterflies as you'd like!
