Spring Craft: Sponge Sail Boat

Use an inexpensive kitchen sponge to sail the open seas — or just to sail around the park pond on a windy day!

The pool, the park pond, the lake, the tub — all these places are perfect for sailing a sponge boat. Kids and their friends can even make the sail boats together, then race them on windy spring days.

3. Insert the pointy end of the skewer into the center of one short edge of the sponge. Leave about 1/2" of skewer sticking out beneath the sponge.

4. Glue the foam to the skewer, holding it in place until it feels stable enough to dry on its own.
