Texas Shooting: More Added To U.S. Mass Shooting Casualty Tally

More names and numbers added to the sick total of U.S. victims of mass shootings. The little town where it happened is different somehow.

The raw numbers, the statistics and the names of the dead taken in the sickening total of mass shootings and other murders in the United States all tell a story. Nearly 7 in 100,000 people in the country were killed last year. The worst incident in terms of sheer numbers occurred only last month, on Oct. 1: 58 killed by bullets in the Los Vegas massacre.

On Sunday in Sutherland Springs, at least 26 more people were added to the roll of victims killed by mass shootings. That's a lot, of course. But given that at last count — the 2000 census — only 362 people were counted in the town, the number killed is as devastating as any in the modern history of the United States.

The math: About 1 of every 14 people in the town were killed. The oldest, 72 years old. The youngest, 5.
