Thanksgiving Crafts For Kids: Painted Acorns
Nature is sometimes the best craft supply! Find the best looking acorns in the yard and use them to make this quick fall craft.

Once these colorful acorns are finished, kids can display them in a container like a shallow bowl or Mason jar. They can also sprinkle the acorns around the Thanksgiving table as tiny decorations.

- Acorns from the backyard
- Freezer bag
- Acrylic paint in various colors
- Paintbrush
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks (optional)
- Jar or other container for display (optional)
Instructions:
1. Gather acorns from outdoors. Look for acorns that are in good condition without any broken pieces and with the caps still attached.

2. Place the acorns in a freezer bag and freeze overnight to kill any bugs that may be living in your collection. (If you're in a hurry, you can bake the acorns in the oven at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes.)

3. Using the acrylic paint and paintbrush, paint your acorns various colors. You can choose a traditional fall color palette, or just choose some of your favorite colors. Allow the paint to dry.
4. If any of the caps fell off the acorns, use a hot glue gun and glue sticks to re-attach them.

5. If you'd like, place the painted acorns in a shallow container or Mason jar to display them.
