My interest in journalism started when I was the photography editor for the student newspaper in high school. After I graduated, I attended Binghamton University, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in English while dedicating the majority of my time to Pipe Dream, the student-run newspaper. I worked as a staff writer and editor before becoming editor-in-chief my senior year. During my time at the paper I covered investigative pieces, administrative and ethical issues.
