Bay Bridge Reopens!
After being closed five days, the Bay Bridge reopened tonight, Monday, with traffic flowing by shortly after 10 p.m., hours ahead of schedule.

Now in my fourth year with Patch.com, I'm the editor of and Albany Patch and Berkeley Patch.
I worked many years as a staff writer and editor at the San Francisco Chronicle until April of 2009, when I switched to freelancing. I then wrote for the Los Angeles Times and other publications, and I also took on editing assignments for UC Berkeley and the United Nations.
Being an East Bay reporter for Patch brings my career full circle in the East Bay. My first bylines appeared in the East Bay Review of the Performing Arts. I next worked as a reporter and editor at the Daily Californian while studying at UC Berkeley, where I obtained a master's in journalism. I was a reporter at the Contra Costa Independent, Berkeley Gazette and San Francisco Examiner before moving to the Chronicle, where I worked several years in the Berkeley bureau and in the main East Bay bureau in Oakland.

Police Calls: Cyclist Injured, Purse Stolen at Jodie's, City Tree Falls on Truck
The Albany police logs for Aug. 24-25 include a cyclist injured in a truck-bike accident, five arrests, a purse snatched from the back of a chair at Jodie's restaurant, a stolen iPhone, three cases of hit and run and several auto burglaries.

'Music in the Park' Returns Wednesday Night

Police Calls: $5,770 Necklace Stolen, Person Bitten by Pit Bull Mix at Bulb
The Albany police logs for Aug. 22-23 include the theft of necklace valued at $5,770, a person bitten on the leg by a pit bull mix in the Albany Bulb area, a stolen vehicle, two reports of people taking recycling and a shoplifting arrest at Safeway.

Police Calls: 4 Reports of Suspicious AT&T Callers in 1 Day; Baby Formula Stolen
The Albany police log for Aug. 21 includes four reports of suspicious solicitors claiming to work for AT&T, a report of aggressive solicitors for an Indian casino, an iPod stolen from a vehicle whose window was smashed and a neighbor's cat run over.

Another Robbery: Cal Student Pushed from Behind While Walking
Adding to the list of recent robberies in Berkeley was the strong-arm robbery Monday night of a 20-year-old female UC Berkeley student next to the Unit 2 dorm on Haste Street. She was pushed from behind while walking and had her cell phone grabbed.

Police Raid Massage Parlor on San Pablo Ave., Arrest 2 in Sting
Two women were arrested for alleged prostitution in a raid by more than a dozen police officers late Thursday following a police sting operation at H & Y Massage on San Pablo Avenue, a half block north of Solano Avenue in Albany, according to police.
