Bio: Faye Edmundson has more than 30 years experience with daily and weekly newspapers, mostly in community journalism, in Texas and Atlanta. Before becoming editor of Duluth Patch, she covered Duluth city government for the daily newspaper in Gwinnett County for three years.
Faye was news editor for nearly 15 years of the Northside/Sandy Springs/Vinings Neighbor Newspapers in Atlanta. She has been an account executive and photographer for Maizie Hale Public Relations, community news editor for the Vinings Gazette, and editor and reporter for the Fayette Sun and Southside Sun.
She worked as a reporter or the Alice (TX) Echo-News and as a copy editor for the Corpus Christi (TX) Caller-Times before moving to Atlanta with her husband Ron. She earned her journalism degree from the University of Texas-Austin.
A widow, Faye moved to Gwinnett County several years ago. She lives in unincorporated Gwinnett near Duluth with her daughter Tracy, who works in Norcross, their two dogs and two cats.
Faye enjoys reading, gourmet cooking, photography, attending concerts and plays, camping, going to the beach, shopping at the mall, browsing in antique shops and finding bargains at garage sales.
Your Beliefs At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know. Politics Moderate to liberal but tolerant of other viewpoints. Are you registered with a certain party? Definitely a Democrat.
Religion
Catholic. Not overly devout but not casual either.
Local Hot-Button Issues
What do you think are the most important issues facing the community? Economic development. Local taxes.
Where do you stand on each of these issues? I support economic development as long as it is planned, located in an appropriate place and doesn't harm the environment. I also believe in shopping locally and supporting Duluth businesses to keep downtown viable.
I favor keeping local taxes low but not to the point that public safety is jeopardized and cuts in services are unreasonable and inconvenient.
