- Ballet West Academy welcomes all who are interested in the art of ballet, offering classes for everyone from age 3 through adulthood. The academy prides itself in helping children build their confidence and their ability to make independent decisions. Students at the academy also have opportunities to perform on stage in one of the three yearly showcases or by auditioning for roles in the main company's full productions. Summer camp registration is now available starting in June and adult classes are open year-round for all levels. Classes are open at all locations in Salt Lake City, Utah County, and Park City. - Over the past weekend, MuralFest 2023 made its way back to South Salt Lake, and now dozens of murals are now permanent parts of the community. Some people in the area are thankful for MuralFest as it brings a fun energy to the community and more color to the neighborhood. However, some people are not a fan of the event as it brings unwanted noise and foot traffic to the once quiet neighborhood, and one resident noted that the city did not ask people who live in the area for any feedback on how they feel about the event. MuralFest was introduced to Salt Lake City in 2017 and was one of the few festivals that survived the pandemic. A map of the new mural installations can be found here. (FOX 13 News Utah)
- A woman is currently recovering after being seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident last Thursday while walking through a crosswalk in front of her home in the Ballpark neighborhood. The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. when several different surveillance cameras caught the accident that sent Thu Cao flying about 20 feet from the collision, Cao currently is recovering from several injuries including broken ribs and a broken pelvis. Footage shows the driver who hit her initially stops and joins a group of people attempting to assist the victim but leaves the scene before the police arrive under the radar. Not many details were given by the police as the case is still under investigation, but Cao is expected to make a full recovery with time. (KUTV 2News)
