Fire crews closed part of Concord while extinguishing the blaze, and the American Red Cross is helping the family with temporary lodging as investigators work to determine the cause.
   

2. The whale, an iconic artwork in Salt Lake City, will soon look different. Here's why. (sltrib.com) — Salt Lake City’s beloved 9th and 9th whale sculpture is getting a fresh new mural, and local artists are being invited to help redefine the neighborhood icon. The Salt Lake City Arts Council is accepting applications from Salt Lake County artists through Jan. 2, with the updated design expected to debut by late summer 2026.
