- The community gathered this past Sunday to honor the life of Salt Lake teen Om Moses Gandhi who was killed by his father the day before Mother's Day. Many of Om's friends, classmates, teachers, and the community gathered at Sunnyside Park for a candlelight vigil in remembrance of Om and the light he shed into the life of all those he touched. The vigil was organized by Om's fellow students and a group named "Justice for Om." The group also live-streamed the visual on Instagram Live. (KSL.com)
- The well-anticipated Hive Music Festival and Utah resident Post Malone performance that was scheduled for Jun. 9-10 in Salt Lake City was unexpectedly canceled recently for unknown reasons. If you purchased your ticket from Front Gate Tickets, you will be automatically refunded in "as little as 30 days." The cancelation of the festival and Malone's performance came just days after his summer tour announcement, a Utah tour date has not been scheduled. (FOX 13 News Utah)
- Last Friday, 32-year-old Jesse Vernie Hartwell of Salt Lake County was arrested on three different counts for allegedly attempting to have sex with a child believed to be five years old. Hartwell was communicating with what he thought to be a child through the internet and text messaging proposing the two engage in sexual activity. He, in fact, was communicating with an agent with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Upon arriving at the arranged location, Hartwell was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County jail system, where he is being held without bond. (Gephardt Daily)
