Here are the top three stories in Salt Lake City today:

  1. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be awarding two of its Brownfields grants to partners in the Salt Lake City area. These grants will be dedicated to assessing, cleaning, and rehabilitating certain areas within the city including Magna Township and the former Schovaers Electronic site. The overall grant will be $1.4 million total and divided up accordingly between the two locations. (Townlift - Park City News)
  2. After being arrested for a DUI earlier this month, Salt Lake City Council member Amy Fowler announced she will be resigning from her seat. The original arrest was on Wednesday, May 3 after an alleged hit-and-run accident where a Utah Highway Patrol officer found Fowler sitting in her car with the engine running. Fowler's resignation is confirmed to go into effect by Monday, Jul. 3. (Fox 13 Now)
  3. A 45-year-old Salt Lake City man has admitted to sexually assaulting his pre-teen niece and was arrested earlier this week. According to police records, the suspect is being charged with 12 first-degree felony charges including four counts of rape of a child and eight counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child. The victim says that her uncle threatened to kill her if she told anyone what happened between the two of them. (Gephardt Daily)
