Utah's homeless shelters get surge of cash from familiar face (sltrib.com) — Salt Lake City’s homeless resource centers are getting a major boost, with philanthropist Gail Miller pledging $10 million to maintain and improve facilities, including the center bearing her name. The money will support building upkeep, expanded services like food assistance, and a matching campaign, as state leaders debate a new 1,300-bed campus and the future role of existing shelters.

Shots fired at police officer outside of a nightclub in downtown Salt Lake City (kslnewsradio.com) — Police say an officer and a suspect exchanged gunfire outside SKY nightclub in downtown Salt Lake City early Saturday, with no injuries reported. The Salt Lake City Police Department is still investigating, has not released suspect details, and plans to share more information as it becomes available.
   

3. Water outages possible in Millcreek neighborhood due to main break (kutv.com) — Residents near Mount Olympus Cove in Millcreek may see low water pressure or temporary outages today as Salt Lake City Public Utilities repairs a broken water main near 4500 S Jupiter Drive. Crews expect to finish within about eight hours, and traffic around the break is also being disrupted while work continues.
   

4. Utah and Peru: Two regions sharing rich Latter-day Saint histories (deseret.com) — Salt Lake City’s new direct Delta flight to Lima is tightening cultural, religious, and family ties between Utah and Peru, especially for local Latter-day Saints and Peruvian residents. Utah leaders, church officials, and Peruvian diplomats say the seasonal route deepens missionary work, trade, and humanitarian collaboration that already links Salt Lake City to one of the church’s fastest-growing regions.
