Here are the top three stories today in Salt Lake City:
- Sarah Sun, also known as Miss Aspen Hills, secured the title of Miss Utah 2023 after winning the crown at the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake. She is the first Chinese woman to represent Utah in the Miss America Competition. Along with the crown, Sarah earned over $10,000 in scholarships to support her studies at Brigham Young University, where she is pursuing music and international strategy and diplomacy. The competition showcased 47 talented young women from across the state and awarded a total of $70,000 in scholarships, acknowledging the first through fourth runner-ups as well. (FOX 13)
- Over the weekend Salt Lake Police booked Johnny Cuevas into the Salt Lake Metro Jail to investigate his potential in the Sunday shooting that left a 23-year-old injured. The victim was found with non-life-threatening injuries to his foot and taken to a local hospital. The shooting is believed to caused by an altercation between the two individuals involved. With assistance from a community tip, Cuevas was arrested. (KSL.com)
- Uath is home to one of the largest houses in the United States, which is set to become the state's largest-ever house sale. The six-bedroom mansion, located at the end of Hobble Creek Canyon down the road in Springville, spans 51,000 square feet and sits on 156 acres of land. It boasts impressive amenities such as a basketball court, sauna, kid's ball pit, movie theatre, and even an indoor water park. Currently pending, the mansion is expected to be sold for a staggering $17.5 million. (ABC 4)
