- Nearby in West Valley City, a large fire broke out on Copperhill Drive that spread to three properties; it is believed that the cause of these fires was illegal fireworks. A neighbor reported that the fire broke out around 10:00 p.m.; a passing motorcyclist noticed the flame beginning and alerted someone. The fireworks that were seen were illegal and outside of the time frame they are allowed to be used. Utah State regulations allow the use of legal fireworks from Jul. 2-5 and 22-25 between 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. (KSL.com)
- An investigation is currently going on in Salt Lake City for what appears to have been an intentional hit-and-run of a man riding a scooter. Around 1:15 a.m. Monday morning, a 61-year-old man was hit and killed on his scooter while traveling westbound on 1000 North; it is currently believed the car turned around and crossed traffic to hit the victim. The first responding officers on the scene attempted to save the victim's life but unfortunately, he died at the scene. Detectives are requesting that residents and business owners in the area check their security footage for any potential information to help find the suspect. (FOX 13 News Utah)
- Utah's Transit Authority will be hosting a Bus Scavenger Hunt as part of the Clear the Air Challenge. Every Monday in July, UTA's Instagram will post clues to locate hidden QR codes containing keywords to win prizes. Each week, the first five scavengers to DM the three words and a picture of the final bus will receive a merch card. The first 10 weekly contestants to correctly send the keywords will be entered in a drawing for a grand prize of two VIP tickets to their chosen Twilight concert either in Salt Lake or Ogden. (KSLTV)
