Here are the top three stories today in Salt Lake City:

  1. Salt Lake City police are currently investigating after an SUV crashed into a cyclist and landed him in the hospital with critical injuries. Based on preliminary investigations, the 45-year-old cyclist was riding his bike west on Sunnyside Avenue Thursday morning around 7:51 a.m. when he was struck by the SUV at the intersection of Sunnyside and Guardsman Way. Firefighters were able to respond to the scene quickly enough to provide life-saving aid to the victim before he was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the SUV, a 64-year-old woman, remained on the scene to cooperate with officers. (KSL.com)
  2. The return of Jack in the Box to Salt Lake City has resulted in massive lines and wait times. As one customer reported, on day one, the wait was three hours to place an order. On Wednesday, an overhead drone caught a video of customers attempting to get in the drive-thru, showing cars wrapped around the fast food restaurant and into the side streets. It was announced earlier this year that the chain would open 10 restaurants in northern Utah in addition to the location at 61 East 2100 South. (FOX 13 News Utah)
  3. Today (Jun. 23), Salt Lake City swimmers will be taking part in the World's Largest Swimming Lesson, as part of a global initiative raising awareness of water safety and teaching swimming. The event, coordinated by World Waterpark Association, will have swim instructors teaching important water safety skills as well as a 30-minute lesson provided by WLSL. This event is free to the public and taught the same way across all participating facilities. (ABC4.com)
