Here are the top three stories in Salt Lake City today:
- On Sunday, Jun. 18, the Salt Lake City Police Department discovered a vehicle submerged in the Jordan River during the early morning hours. When officers arrived on the scene, the vehicle was empty and no report had been filed for a missing car. Law enforcement officials say they're not sure what events led up to this incident, but they are actively investigating the case. (Fox 13 Now)
- A 29-year-old man in Salt Lake City was arrested after a 5-year-old boy in his care was returned with a variety of burn marks all over his body and numerous missing teeth. After the boy's mother picked her son up from the care of Anthony Thomas, he had burns in various stages of healing surrounding his body and suffered chemical burns in his eyes that ended up damaging his retina, therefore limiting his vision. Thomas has been charged with three counts of aggravated child abuse. (KUTV)
- One of Salt Lake City's most popular skiing locations has become the first resort in the country to introduce rooftop balconies on their trams. This past weekend, Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon introduced its brand new aerial view tram balconies that help to create a completely unique experience for not only Utah visitors but North Americans in general. The breathtaking experience will be open all summer long and is the newest update to the tram system since its complete makeover last year.
