Here are the top three stories today in Salt Lake City:
- A 33-year-old man named Nicholas Jacob Muenchow was arrested after allegedly following three children home from a Salt Lake City school for almost two weeks. Muenchow is facing charges of voyeurism against a child, interference with an arresting officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The victims, a six-year-old boy, a 10-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old girl, reported the incidents to their father, who called the police after one of the victims took a photo of Muenchow. (Fox 31)
- A male zebra weighing 98 pounds was born at Utah's Hogle Zoo after a yearlong wait! The Mom, Zivia, a 10-year-old Hartmann's mountain zebra, exhibited positive signs of progress, including standing, nursing, walking, and little gallops known as "zoomies." The public can partake in naming the newborn here. (KSL TV 5)
- As water levels rise, boats have started returning to the lake. The boats had been removed from the marina in August 2022 due to record low lake levels, leaving the marina to see nearly zero visitors during the fall and winter seasons. However, with the snowfall in Utah over the winter, the lake gained about five feet of water, bringing hope for a recovery, although levels are still below where they should be. (Fox 31)
