Here are the top three stories today in Salt Lake City:

  1. Planning Commission has given a mixed-use development project that will be located at 1435 South State Street the green light! The proposal comes from a local developer called the Colmena Group. This group proposed a plan for the Sears block on 8th South in Downtown but it was not approved, since then they have been focused on spreading development down State Street. This new development will bring 181 new units to the area with size options running from studio apartments to three bedrooms. (Building Salt Lake)
  2. A man named Traeger Winn was arrested for allegedly attacking teenagers and police officers with a knife in Murray Park. Winn reportedly threatened and physically assaulted the teenagers before they could escape and call 911. When the police arrived, Winn refused to drop the knife, charged at the officers, and stabbed one in the leg while slicing another officer's arm. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on multiple charges, including assault on a peace officer and aggravated assault. (ABC 4)
  3. Isiah James Garcia, a resident of Salt Lake City, allegedly stabbed a relative who was involved in an argument with a woman at their shared residence. After instructing the man to end the argument, Garcia reportedly threatened him and became violent when the dispute persisted. The victim was promptly transported to the hospital, where he underwent surgery and has since been discharged. Garcia is facing charges of aggravated assault leading to severe injury. (KSL.com)
