How did you get into the insurance industry?
I got into the insurance industry purely by accident. I was running away from a bad marriage, moved to the city, and took the first job I could find, which was working for a really good, independent agent. And then I stayed, because the industry is so complex, no two days are the same, and things are constantly changing. I realized other people may need help to understand and navigate the insurance system, and I ended up being a pretty good guide.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is community, building trusted relationships. When I can say hey that's my friend and they trust me enough to help with their insurance, and they trust me to take care of their family and friends as well. Hey Mary, can you help my brother/sister/mother? You know I will do my best. That's one of my highest honors.
What’s something you wish everyone knew about insurance?
Something I wish everyone knew about insurance is how important the right coverage is. People often shop from how much is this going to cost instead of how much coverage do I need to protect everything I have worked so hard for. One thing I wish someone never has to know about insurance, is the financial and emotional strain of losing a loved one, who didn't have a life insurance policy.
What's something you wish everyone knew about working with a local agent?
Local agents drive the same streets you drive on. A local agent is familiar with your demographic and understands where you live, and where you play.
What factors should someone consider when exploring their insurance options?
Factors to consider when exploring your insurance options are, am I covered in the event of a loss? Do I have enough coverage to replace my home, auto, etc.
Will my family be able to maintain their lifestyle without my income?

What do you like most about the Salt Lake City area?
I love that this valley is surrounded by mountains, and we have some of the most epic sunsets. I like the sense of community and how people show up for each other. I like meeting new people and finding out more about them and what makes them happy.
What’s your favorite restaurant in the Salt Lake City area?
Some of my favorite restaurants are El Chihauhau, Cancun Cafe, Loco Lizard Cantina, and Nielsen's Frozen Custard.
What’s one hidden gem in the Salt Lake City area that everyone should know about?
The Left Fork Grill, or the best greasy spoon diner is Ogies.
