'It is our problem': Gail Miller donates $10M to bolster Salt Lake homeless services (ksl.com) — Salt Lake City’s Gail Miller is donating $10 million to Shelter the Homeless, with most of it reserved for long-term upkeep and security at the Gail Miller Resource Center in the Ballpark neighborhood. City leaders say the gift will help keep critical homeless services running as building and maintenance costs soar, and could spur others to support shelters across the Salt Lake Valley.
   

2. Yuletide at the Village Brings Holiday Cheer and Hope to Salt Lake City (ksltv.com) — Salt Lake City residents can visit Yuletide at the Village now through Saturday at The Other Side Village on Indiana Avenue, a free three-day holiday market supporting formerly homeless residents. Expect food trucks, local vendors, live entertainment, Santa, and a Giving Tree where donations directly fund housing, education, and community programs that help people rebuild their lives.
   

3. Man with autism, missing for nearly a month, reunited with mother after being found in Taylorsville (kslnewsradio.com) — A man with autism who disappeared near the University of Utah nearly a month ago has been found safe in Taylorsville and reunited with his mother. University of Utah Police and volunteers had searched for weeks across the Salt Lake area before Taylorsville officers recognized him in a fast-food restaurant and got him medical care and back to his family.
   

4. ‘This is a big win': Survey results provide insight into Utah youth's mental health, substance use (abc4.com) — Salt Lake City-based health officials say new SHARP survey results show Utah students reporting fewer symptoms of depression, suicidal thoughts, and use of alcohol, marijuana, and vaping products compared with 2023. The statewide survey of more than 78,000 students also flags rising nicotine pouch and tobacco use, and highlights how family meals, sleep, and consistent screen-time rules can boost grades and mental health.
