Here are the top three stories today in Salt Lake City:
- For the first time, Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital hosted a prom night for teens 15 and older who were unable to make their own high school proms. The hospital provided special salon services, a DJ, food, a photo booth and more to make the night special for the patients and caregivers. In early 2024, cancer services for patients will be extended to a second Intermountain Primary Hospital that is currently under construction in Lehi. (Good Things Utah)
- As Utah's Hogle Zoo celebrates American Zoo Day, all military personnel, veterans and their immediate families will be receiving free access to the zoo on Jul. 1. In order to redeem the free entry, guests will need to show a valid military ID. Guests in attendance will be able to see the newest baby zebra that has made its way into the zoo family as well as participate in the parade that will be going on during the day. Make sure to mark this day off on the calendar, the zoo will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (FOX 13 News Utah)
- The Utah Clean Air Partnership and Magnum Bikes are teaming up to provide a new e-bike voucher program that will award the first 1,000 applicants in Salt Lake County e-bikes valued up to $1,400. The Utah Clean Air Partnership wants to encourage the community to find more active, less contaminating ways of transportation whether it is walking, biking, or taking public transportation, these are also cheaper methods than constantly visiting a gas pump. - June marked the 15 anniversary of Delta Air Lines' having nonstop flights to Paris from Salt Lake City International. Aside from a brief hold during the pandemic, this flight has operated continuously, SLC's first transatlantic flight. (Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) via Facebook)
- The Salt Lake City Public Library and all of its participants had a great time at the two-day tween bike workshop that was held at Day-Riverside Library. The library partnered with Bike Utah to help educate tweens on bike safety when sharing the road. (Salt Lake City Public Library via Instagram)
- The Salt Lake City School District would like to once again thank Stubbs Dental for its generous donation to Uintah Elementary. The $1,050 that was donated will help pay back some of the student lunch debt. (Salt Lake City School District via Facebook)
