Salt Lake City Woman, 21, Dies In Climbing Accident Near Moab: Police
The incident occurred Saturday at Morning Glory Arch, where officials found Emmalynn Herbstritt, a Canyoneering Guide, unresponsive.

MOAB, UTAH – Emmalynn Thair Herbstritt, a 21-year-old woman from Salt Lake City, died Saturday in a climbing accident near Moab, according to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred Saturday afternoon at Morning Glory Arch, where officials found Herbstritt, a Canyoneering Guide, unresponsive. She later died at the scene, the sherriff’s office said.
No additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding her death has been released.

According to the National Park Service, canyoneering combines route finding, rappelling, problem solving, swimming, and hiking.
Summit Post, a resource for canyoneerers, describes the Morning Glory excursion as a series of drainages, fins and canyons, during which one rappels into a unique "hidden chamber" to the top of the Morning Glory Arch.
