Here are the top three stories today in Salt Lake City:
- Like other city parks in the Salt Lake community, Fairmont Park revealed its new beautiful recycling bin mural this past Wednesday. Several organizations in the community joined together in the efforts to make this mural possible as youth from the Sugar House Boys and Girls Club and Sugar House Youth City came together to contribute to the beautiful art that was painted. Adding a mural to the park helps bring more energy to a community and it was felt with the unveiling on Wednesday afternoon. (ABC4.com)
- Salt Lake City is attempting to make the streets in the city safer by launching the Emery Street Livability Improvement Pilot Program as a way to reduce speeding on local streets. Chicanes are being added to streets which are intended to make drivers swerve a bit unless they ease up on the gas pedal and travel at lesser speeds. This is a pilot program, however, and Salt Lake needs the communities feedback on if this is effective, you can leave a comment on the program here. (KSLTV)
- Fast food lovers' dreams are coming true as one Wendy's in Salt Lake City is giving customers an opportunity to receive free food for an entire year. On Saturday, Jul. 8, the newly renovated Wendy's located at 3988 West 5400 South will be having its grand opening at 10:30 a.m., and the first 100 customers over 16 to make a purchase will win a VIP ticket for free food for a year. The "First 100" card will make winners eligible for a free sandwich, salad, or biscuit once a week. The renovations at the restaurant include a new beverage machine, private booths, and comfier seating. (ABC4.com)
