There's a new found joy and happiness in 2021 and the St. Patrick's Day festivities at the 100-bed nursing and rehabilitation center in Elizabethtown were extremely upbeat. Essex Center has been Covid free for a while now and what's more is that 52 residents and 40 employees have recovered from Covid. On this lucky St. Patrick's Day, residents were treated to desserts, green non-alcoholic beer and various punches while the residents judged the staff on their lucky costumes.

Later, staff paraded throughout Essex Center entering each unit in their best St. Patrick's Day garb. Residents received paper so they can do the judging. $100 went to the best costume and then went to staffer Leigh Mitchell. The green non-alcoholic beer was served following the parade and the residents received tattoos and green beads.

"The residents had so much fun for St. Patrick's Day here," said Beth McLaughlin, Recreation Director at Essex Center. "We dressed up for them, we also had a great time, it was fun all around!"
