Vermont Weather: Winter Storm Watch In Effect Later This Week
Heavy snow is possible throughout much of Vermont starting Wednesday night into Friday, the National Weather Service says.

BURLINGTON, VT — The National Weather Service on Tuesday issued a winter storm watch for most of Vermont as forecasters keep their eyes on a system expected to move into the state Wednesday.
The watch is in effect from late Wednesday night through Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Burlington. The system could bring heavy snow to the state, dumping 6 or more inches in some areas.
Currently, the watch encompasses all but the southern portion of the state. This includes the cities of Burlington, Montpelier, Rutland and Springfield.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to bring a mix of rain and snow Wednesday night into Thursday before transitioning to all snow Thursday afternoon. Snowfall could be moderate to heavy at times, forecasters said.
Conditions could affect Thursday's evening commute and Friday's morning commute. The snow also is expected to be wet and heavy, which could lead to downed tree limbs and power lines.
