VT Weather: Up To 10" Snow Forecast As 'Bomb Cyclone' Nears
The storm system could drop up to a foot of snow in some parts of the interior Northeast, according to forecasts.
VERMONT — Much of Vermont is now under a winter storm warning as a developing "bomb cyclone" sets its sights on a wide swath of the United States this weekend.
A massive storm system moving in from the Tennessee and Ohio valleys on Friday is expected to bring heavy, wet snow to all of Vermont this weekend. The storm and its accompanying arctic blast head for the East Coast on Saturday, kicking off a 24-hour period of terrible weather, according to the National Weather Service.
In Vermont, a winter storm warning is in effect until 1 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service office in Burlington.

A light mix of rain and snow is expected to move into the region Friday evening into early Saturday morning and transition to snow by midmorning. Moderate or heavy snow is forecast throughout much of the day before tapering off Saturday night into Sunday.
The warning area is expected to receive anywhere from 7-10 inches of new snow. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph, primarily Saturday afternoon into the evening. Winds will weaken into the Sunday morning hours.

Conditions could create areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility, making travel extremely dangerous. Power outages are also possible.
