Elliott, who gained international fame with songs like "Get Ur Freak On" and "Gossip Folks," was "humbly grateful" after learning the news.

PORTSMOUTH, VA — Missy Elliott, the Grammy Award-winning rapper known for hits like "Work It" and "Lose Control," added a new honor to her long list of accolades this week after her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia, named a street after her.
The Portsmouth City Council approved renaming a 1-mile stretch of McLean Street, located in the city's entertainment district, to Missy Elliott Boulevard, the Virginian Pilot reported.
The request to name a street after Elliott came from Portsmouth resident Erin Carter, according to the Pilot. Carter is also a lifelong fan of Elliott.
