Alexandria Man Charged In DC Stabbing: Police
Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a 27-year-old Alexandria man for stabbing incident in Northeast, authorities say.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A 27-year-old Alexandria man was arrested in connection to a stabbing that took place early Thursday near Stanton Park in the District, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers from MPD's First District responded around 4:41 a.m. to the 300 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast, for the report of a stabbing, according to the incident report.
Police determined that the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed a woman before fleeing the scene. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according police.

Investigators identified 27-year-old Devyn Cyphers of Alexandria as a suspect in the case, police say. MPD arrested Cyphers and charged him with assault with a dangerous weapon (knife).
Under the D.C. Code, assault with a dangerous weapon, such as a knife, is a felony and carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
