Presidential Inauguration Guests in Town? What to Do in Annandale

Where to go, what to do and where to eat in Annandale this weekend if you're hosting out-of-town guests for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration.

Chances are, your guests will want to do more than sit on your couch waiting for the second inauguration of President Barack Obama on Monday. So, we’ve rounded up some things you can do right here in Annandale to keep your guests entertained and happy.

Where to Eat

If you've got a big crowd to feed, take them to Annandale hotspot Honey Pig. Located at 7220 Columbia Pike., the 24-hour restaurant serves a variety of dishes from bulgogi to kimchi to octopus and is considered by many to be the best place in Annandale to grab Korean BBQ. Stay late and partake of some of the karaoke!

For traditional American fare such as burgers and french fries, try Silverado located at 7052 Columbia Pike in the Annandale Shopping Center. Food Corner Kabob is also a favorite destination for many, servng up everything from kabobs to gyros to salads.

After your meal, you and your guests can explore more of downtown Annandale. Across from Honey Pig is the Annandale Cannon, one of the many historical markers located in Annandale. The Cannon was built in 1999 and serves as a reminder of the sacrifices of our veterans who served in the country's armed forces. Not far from the Cannon is Annandale's Tollhouse Park, located at the corner of Little River Turnpike and Annandale Road.

There's also the Action at Annandale marker near the George Mason Regional Library, which was the oadbed for the unfinished Manassas Gap Railroad according to the text on the marker. Mason District Park, which is a nice destination all on its own.

Other notable destinations: Hidden Oaks Nature Center (great for kids) and Green Spring Gardens (great for nature lovers).
