39th Annual Marine Corps Marathon Route Starts and Ends in Arlington and May Impact Traffic

The MCM route goes through historic monuments and will air live on TV Oct. 26.

As a part of the Marine Corps Marathon weekend, runners will participate in the 26.2 mile scenic route that starts and ends in Arlington.

Nicknamed the “Marathon of the Monuments”, the annual marathon starts on Route 110 between Arlington National Cemetery and the Pentagon Sunday. There are over 30,000 runners from all 50 states and 54 countries. Flags representing the runners’ nations will be displayed as the M2A1 Howitzer is fired to signify the start of the race.

Runners will race past historic areas including the Washington Monument, the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, and the FDR Memorial. Spectators are welcome to cheer on runners!

The third largest marathon in the U.S. will commence at the access road to the Marine Corps War Memorial.
