Winter Isn't Done With Virginia, DC: Latest Snowfall Estimates
Portions of western Virginia may see snow accumulations of up to 8 inches over the Presidents Day weekend, according to NWS.

VIRGINIA — National Weather Service issued a winter storm advisory for the Northern Virginia-Washington, D.C., region from 11 p.m. on Friday to 7 a.m. on Saturday. Heavy snow is expected, with accumulations of up to 4 to 6 inches in some areas.
Portions of western and northwestern Virginia, eastern West Virginia and western Maryland will endure the brunt of the storm, according to the NWS forecast. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible for a few hours on Friday night.
The winter weather advisory includes the District of Columbia, plus the cities of Culpeper, Falls Church and Alexandra, as well as Fairfax, Arlington, Falls Church, Fauquier and Prince William counties.

The snowy conditions could make traveling very difficult for the afternoon for parts of Virginia and around the Baltimore-Washington region, according to the NWS. Heavy snow may reduce visibility to less than one half mile at times, causing hazardous driving conditions.

In Northern Virginia and the D.C. suburbs, most of the snow this weekend will be to the north and west, according the AccuWeather forecast.
Friday will start out breezy with a 10 mph wind from the west to northwest and a 2 percent chance of rain, according to the AccuWeather. Friday's high temperature will be 48 degrees, falling to 33 degrees into the evening hours.
Saturday is expected to be partly sunny and breezy, with a 15 percent chance of rain and a high of 40 and a low of 21, according to Accuweather.
Sunny and milder weather will move into Northern Virginia on Sunday, switching over to sunny skies and slightly higher temperatures on Presidents Day.
The following is the National Weather Service's seven-day forecast for the Washington, D.C. region.
Friday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 48. Northwest wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
Tonight: A slight chance of rain before 9pm, then snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 31. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Saturday: A chance of snow, mainly before 7am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Northwest wind 8 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20. Southwest wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 48. Southwest wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 27.
Washington's Birthday: Sunny, with a high near 50.
Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 27.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 53.
Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 31.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.
Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.
