Arlington Man Surrenders To Police After Barricade Incident
Negotiators with Arlington County Police were able to convince a man who'd barricaded himself in a Arna Valley homee to surrender.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 32-year-old Arlington man is in police custody following a barricade incident Wednesday morning in the Arna Valley area, according to police.
After receiving a report around 11:34 a.m. of a person with a gun inside a residence, Arlington County Police dispatched officers to the 2600 of 27th Road S. to investigate.
Officers determined that a man with what appeared to be a firearm had argued with and threatened two people inside a residence, according to police. The victim and witness were able to exit the residence unharmed prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

ACPD established a perimeter and negotiated with the suspect via telephone. Although the suspect initially refused to leave the building, negotiators were able to resolve the incident safely and convince the suspect to surrender. No injuries were reported.
Police arrested Utshab Barua of Arlington, and charged him with brandishing and two counts of assault and battery. He was held without bond, according to police.

Barua’s case is scheduled to be adjudicated on March 27 in Arlington Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
