Arlington Named 'Best Place To Live In Virginia' In 2018 List

The data site Niche.com named Arlington as 2018's best place to live in Virginia, based on schools, crime rate, diversity and more.

ARLINGTON, VA — What's the best place to live in Virginia? That depends on who you ask. According to a new set of rankings released by the neighborhood data site Niche.com, Arlington is the best place to live in Virginia in 2018.

Niche.com took several factors into consideration to arrive at the rankings, such as: the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, diversity, nightlife, walkability, weather, employment statistics and access to amenities.

Researchers gave Arlington: A+ in public schools; A+ in good for families, A+ in nightlife, A in diversity and a C+ in housing. The population is 226,092 and the median home value is $623,300.

A current Arlington resident said: "Arlington is a mixing bowl of job opportunities, people, and fun! There is incredible cuisine from many countries, authentic and delicious! Downtown has many options such as Ballston, Clarendon, Court House, Rosslyn, and more for exquisite restaurants, shopping, and night life. There are lots of trees despite the urban atmosphere. The school system is top in the state. The communities are diverse and offer a short commute into Washington, D.C.!"
