The Arlington Players Receive 14 DC Area Theater Award Nominations
The Arlington Players received 14 Washington Area Theatre Community Honors nominations, the fifth most among D.C. area theater companies.

ARLINGTON, VA — When the nominations for the 2022 Washington Area Theatre Community Honors (WATCH) Awards were announced on Sunday, The Arlington Players received 14 nominations, the fifth most among D.C. area theater companies.
Each year, WATCH presents awards recognizing outstanding artistic and technical achievements in community theater in the Washington, D.C. region.
"We are so proud of all our productions and so excited to see these 14 nominations for our teams!" The Arlington Players said in a statement.

For this year's awards, WATCH drew its nominations from 98 productions — 38 musicals and 60 plays — from the combined 2020/2022 performance seasons. A list of all the nominations is available online.
The WATCH Awards will be presented Sunday, March 19, at 7 p.m., during a ceremony at the Birchmere, which is located at 3701 Mount Vernon Ave. in Alexandria. Tickets are available for $20 via Ticketmaster or at the Birchmere box office.

• Outstanding Choreography – Brianna Galligan – Newsies
• Outstanding Direction of a Musical – Emily “ej” Jonas – Newsies
• Leta Hall Outstanding Ensemble in a Musical – Newsies
• Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical – Evan Hamilton as “Davey” – Newsies
• Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical – John Jennings as “Race” – Newsies
• Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical – Kaya Harrison as “Medda Larkin” – Newsies
• Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical – Olivia Clavel-Davis as “Katherine” – Newsies
• Outstanding Music Direction – Justin DeLong – Newsies • Outstanding Musical – Newsies
The Little Theatre of Alexandria received a total of 52 nominations, the most of any theater group. The Reston Community Players were next, with 42 nominations.
Port Tobacco Players of La Plata, Maryland, received 23 nominations, followed by the Silver Spring Stage with 15 and The Arlington Players with 14.
