The Arlington Players Win Outstanding Musical, 5 Other WATCH Awards

ARLINGTON, VA — The Arlington Players took home six awards Sunday night at the 2023 Washington Area Theatre Community Honors Awards ceremony at The Birchmere in Alexandria.

Five of The Arlington Players' awards were for its production of "Newsies," which was named the outstanding musical on Sunday night.

When the nominations for 2023 WATCH Awards were announced in January, The Arlington Players received 14 nominations.

Reston Community Players was the big winner racking up a combined total of 13 awards for its productions of "A Little Night Music," "The Game's A Foot" and "Bright Star." The Arlington Players had the next highest number of awards.

• Outstanding Makeup Design in a Play – Larissa Norris – A Midsummer Night’s Dream
• Outstanding Choreography – Brianna Galligan – Newsies
• Outstanding Direction of a Musical – Emily “EJ” Jonas – Newsies
• Leta Hall Outstanding Ensemble in a Musical – Newsies
• Outstanding Music Direction – Justin DeLong – Newsies
• Outstanding Musical – Newsies
