Arlington Public Schools Change Schedule Ahead Of Friday Snow
The winter weather advisory in effect for the D.C. area has led to changes to Arlington Public Schools' schedule for Friday, Jan. 19.
ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington Public Schools will be closed on a Code 1 status on Friday, Jan. 19 due to the winter weather advisory issued for the region.
Along with schools and APS offices, extracurricular activities, games, team practices, field trips, adult education classes and programs in Arlington schools and on school grounds are canceled on Friday.
Unless otherwise directed by their supervisors, custodial and maintenance staff should report to work at their scheduled time, APS said.

The first 13 inclement weather days this school year will be treated as traditional "snow days," according to APS. These 13 days may occur consecutively as part of a single major event, or at different times during isolated weather events.
APS will revert to distance learning for days in excess of the 13 allotted days, the school system said.

Forecasters are calling for 1 to 3 inches of snow in Arlington and the immediate D.C. suburbs on Friday. The winter weather advisory is in effect for Arlington and the surrounding area from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
