Arlington Winter Storm Update: Snowfall Totals Increasing
A new forecast raises the possibility of several inches of snow on Tuesday and Wednesday in Arlington.

ARLINGTON, VA — A brand new forecast suggests that our chances of getting multiple inches of snow on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Arlington area have markedly increased.
While previous forecasts suggests we may get nothing more than rain or a dusting, the new forecast from the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang indicates that we are firmly in the range of 1 to 3 inches, with the possibility of up to 6 inches in a "boom" (25 percent chance) scenario. There's also the bust scenario of less than 1 inch.
The farther south you go, the less snowfall you're likely to see, although you'd have to get down into Prince William County, Va. to get into the trace-to-1-inch range in the latest model.

However, don't expect the snow on Tuesday: while there will be plenty of precipitation, it's most likely to be in the form of sleet and freezing rain. There will be a "second wave" starting at around dawn on Wednesday, and that will likely have a lot more snow, CWG says.
Still, a lot can change over the next 24 to 36 hours, and we'll keep an eye on forecasts as they come in to bring you the latest on the storm.
