Arlington Woman Critically Injured In 3-Vehicle Crash In MD

An Arlington woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after her vehicle was struck from behind by a truck, authorities say.

CALVERT COUNTY, MD — A 36-year-old Arlington woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning when her vehicle was struck by.a truck while she was stopped at a traffic light in St. Leonard, Maryland, according to authorities.

Just before 11 a.m., Nikola Medenica was sitting inside her 2024 Tesla at the intersection of southbound Route 2/4 and Ball Road behind a 2007 International truck driven by 57-year-old Ronald E. Matthews of Mechanicsville, according to the Calvert County Sheriff's Office.

A 2019 Freightliner truck driven by 64-year-old Erbert Locklear Jr. of Baltimore struck Medenica's Tesla from behind and pushed it into Matthews' truck, according to the incident report.

Medenica was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to a local trauma center to be treated for life-threatening conditions, according to the report. Locklear and Matthews' injuries were treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
