Arlington's Gallery Underground Opens Show To Support Military Artists
Arlington Artists Alliance is hosting an opening reception on Friday, July 7 for an art show highlighting works by military artists.
ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington Artists Alliance is hosting an opening reception on Friday for an art show highlighting the alliance’s new partnership with Uniting US, a group that works to help the military community through art.
The art show, called Connecting Communities, will be on display at the alliance’s Gallery Underground in Crystal City and will feature 20 artists with works in oils, acrylic, water color, fiber, wood, metal, ceramics and mixed media.
The show runs through July 28. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The opening reception will be held at Gallery Underground on Friday, July 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, who will get a chance to learn about the programs and services of Uniting US and purchase artwork. Food donated by Ted’s Montana Grill in Crystal City will be provided along with drinks.
Along with the opening night reception, a second event will be held on Saturday, July 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Gallery Underground. This free event will feature artist talks by Uniting US artists, hands-on art activities for the family, artist demonstrations, cartoon sketches and refreshments.

Uniting US's programs in support of veterans, military personnel and their families “deeply align with our values as an artist collective,” Arlington Artists Alliance Executive Director Christina Papanicolaou said in a statement.
Gallery Underground is located in the Crystal City Shops, 2100 Crystal Drive, Suite 2120-A in Arlington. The public is asked to RSVP for the events on the Arlington Artists Alliance Facebook page.
